A dual-site exhibition across Mid Street Lab and The Vault

About

Kind & Talented Brighton Artists Spring 2026 Series

Kind & Talented brings together artists from across Brighton working at different stages of their journey: emerging, returning, established, and shifting direction. Presented across Mid Street Lab (Kemptown) and The Vault (Seafront), the exhibition reflects a simple idea: talent grows where it is supported, and kindness is what sustains it.

What's happening

Rather than a one-off show, Kind & Talented is a living exhibition - evolving over several weeks, shaped by the presence of artists, conversations with visitors, and moments of public interaction.

Works span painting, print, installation, mixed media and experimental formats, with an emphasis on:

  • process over perfection
  • accessibility over exclusivity
  • connection over transaction

Visitors are invited not only to view the work, but to spend time with it, and with the people behind it.

Public Programme

Throughout the season, artists will be present across both spaces - hosting:

  • informal art chats and open conversations
  • workshops and participatory sessions
  • artist talks and shared moments of making

This is not invigilation.
It is presence, exchange, and encounter.

Why “Kind & Talented”

In a moment where visibility is often driven by market forces, this exhibition proposes a different lens:

To recognise artists not only for what they produce, but for how they sustain a practice, support others, and remain committed to making.

Kindness here is not softness - it is a condition for continuity.

Flow Mode

All participating artists are part of Flow Mode, a 12-month membership supporting:

  • year-round exhibition opportunities
  • peer exchange and dialogue
  • documentation and visibility
  • public engagement and experimentation

Flow Mode is built on a simple principle:

artists develop over time and need structures that allow that to happen.
